The Advanced Technology (AT) organization's charter is to develop new technologies in a range of areas including computing platforms, networks, and system development environments; advanced sensors and microsystems; communication, navigation and surveillance systems; human-centered systems; advanced graphics and displays; electric power; high-integrity controls; aircraft engines; and advanced vehicle concepts. AT offers excellent opportunities to do multi-disciplinary research. This role is a band 3 engineering opportunity to identify, plan and support the development of new technologies that our Gold Business Enterprises (GBEs) need to grow and be successful.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with a high performing team to develop and deploy the technology investment planning process across Aerospace Advanced Technology. This includes working with technical subject matter experts and business leaders to identify appropriate R&D investment strategies to achieve near and long term strategic plan objectives.
Identify macro trends and their impact on existing businesses and potential new growth opportunities. Leverage your own knowledge as well as expertise that resides within the Advanced Technology organization, strategic marketing, and business units to identify new breakthrough growth opportunities.
Support competitive technology intelligence, scouting, and IP search to help formulate technology strategies.
Lead competitive intelligence in assigned areas. Identify and mature collaboration opportunities with Universities to develop technologies aligned with our GBEs. Support efforts to secure funding, plan, and execute University research projects. Participate in the due diligence of external innovation partners including those suitable for venture investments.
Must develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across Aerospace Advanced Technology, Marketing, and Product management and with engineering Centers of Excellence to facilitate the successful completion of assigned projects.
Self-starter with the ability to operate independently in an ambiguous environment with coaching and guidance.
The breadth of technical knowledge in multiple aerospace disciplines desired.

Qualifications

Program/project management experience is a plus
Marketing plus technical backgrounds desirable
The technology planning process/strategy experience is desirable.

Experience Requirements

BS in Aerospace or Engineering
5 or more years of experience in a technical, marketing or strategy role, to include:
Experience in advanced technology development and deployment

Education Requirements

MBA is strongly preferred

Skills

Excellent communication and collaboration skills required with a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with middle and senior levels of management.
