Design Engineering Manager

The Design Engineering Manager will manage and develop the connector design group based in Kentucky and interface between the Detroit design office and manufacturing plants in Kentucky.

Provide technical and managerial leadership for the design engineers in Kentucky.
Manage and distribute workload within the group. Assess current and future resource needs and make proposals accordingly.
Interface with the Detroit design office to work as a cohesive team on development issues.
Support manufacturing and quality groups when necessary.
Performance design reviews and make recommendations for improvement.
Develop training skills matrix for KY design engineers.
Assess current and future needs, investigate options and make proposals.
Assist in budget planning and tracking.
Represent Components Business Unit when necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned/ required.

8-10 years injection molded component design and development experience. 2 – 4 years supervisory experience. Ability to lead and develop design engineering group. Automotive experience preferred. Ability to create reports, presentations both orally and written. Experience with Catia V5.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

Strong computer skills are required such as MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.
