Position Summary
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated engineering student to contribute and learn from a skilled team that designs high speed mixed signal PCBAs for use in commercial imaging applications. In this position, you will be a critical member providing support to engineering processes.
You will have exposure to various analog and digital electronics work and will real-world engineering understanding under the direction a team of very experienced engineers. Candidates must have strong technical abilities and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

MEMS Microphones
Assist with developing a procedure for testing mics
Collect data, analyze results
Determine possible other uses for microphones
Ultrasonic Document Detection System (UDDS)

40 kHz designs
Further investigation of the Ultra-man algorithm
Collect more data using a single zone scanner
Modify algorithm (Matlab) as necessary to test/verify operation
Design method to automate adds data collection to help determine phase and amplitude sensitivity thresholds for multiple scanners (Python/Matlab)
Evaluation of MEMS microphones as a replacement for CUI microphones in single zone systems

300kHz designs
Investigate available vendors/sensors for characteristics, size, price
Build a test fixture for evaluating sensors
Design/fabricate evaluation boards/electronics for use with sensors
Work with mechanical team to modify a scanner transport for mounting sensors
Evaluate sensors with various paper types running scanner at required speeds
Determine necessary electronics for a production application

Miscellaneous
Assist with development testing of scanner hardware
Assist in with working with LabView FlexRio FPGA Design

Experience Requirements

Python/Matlab/Labview experience

Skills

Must be able to demonstrate creative problem solving
Aptitude to learn quickly
Strong time-management skills (may have several tasks assigned simultaneously)
Independent worker with a team mindset
Ability to debug/analyze analog/digital past and present designs
Experience with Matlab (or other design tools)
Mechanical aptitude
